Abstract

The article presents a reconstruction of the campaign that began with the decree of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks) "On the Work of the Molotov Regional Publishing House", published in the journal "Party Construction" in 1943. Based on office documents found in the collections of the PermGASPI, RGALI and RGASPI, as well as an analysis of literary works published by the Molotov Publishing House in 1942, the author comes to the conclusion that the campaign was aimed at party workers, not the artistic intelligentsia. It is hypothesized that the decree was a response to two signals – from the capital's literary community and from provincial writers who lost their earnings due to the reorientation of publishing houses to the publication of works by authors in evacuation. Responsibility for the literature being published was shifted from writers to publishing house employees. The main criterion for accepting texts for publication was to be their compliance with the ideological line. It can be assumed that the events of 1943 became a kind of "rehearsal" for the 1946 campaign. "On the magazines "Zvezda" and "Leningrad".
