Abstract: This article is devoted to the problems of forming a methodology for structural and component research of video games. The relevance of this topic lies in the fact that the products of the video game industry are poorly studied, popular and modern media, the research of which will reveal the specifics of their production, as well as the impact on the modern individual. Therefore, there is a need to form a tool (method) for an effective and adequate analysis of this phenomenon of modern culture. The main problem of this work is the formation of an unreduced approach to the study of video games, which will provide a comprehensive and multifaceted understanding of these media. The purpose of the work is a structural and functional analysis of the products of the video game industry, using the example of cross-cultural and religious features, for subsequent modeling of a methodological research tool. A number of different methods were used in this study. The deconstruction method was used for structural and component analysis of a video game. A hermeneutic approach is necessary to determine the narrative purpose of the integrated, in particular, religious components. A functional approach is necessary both to reveal the content and specifics of the gameplay, as well as to analyze the functionality of a video game as such. Mental modeling and construction allows you to form a comprehensive view of a video game, as well as generate a methodological tool. The dialectical method made it possible to identify the specifics of the levels of production and integration of religious components and systems in video games. Conclusions. A refined (excluding the player) analysis of a video game misses important components for understanding it, which can be compensated by a content-complex and integrative-approbation level of analysis. The "game religion" is just a collection of secularized (simplified) components that are being tested and reviewed. The introduction of this artificial complex is necessary to actualize the gameplay and neutralize marginalization. Communication of religious systems (player, developers, "game religion", culture integrating and integrating the product, etc.) is possible only in the paradigm of gameplay implementation. There is no "religion-religion" dialogue inside the game space itself, but a "construct-construct" relationship exists.
