Abstract. The article examines the influence of personality traits of the Dark Triad and Light Triad on user behavior in cyberspace. A theoretical review of the concepts of the Dark Triad (narcissism, Machiavellianism, psychopathy) and the Light Triad (humanism, Kantianism, faith in humanity) and their manifestations in online communication is presented. The relevance of studying these traits in the context of the rapid development of the digital environment is emphasized. The aim of this study is to identify and characterize groups of Internet users differing in the predominance of Dark or Light Triad personality traits and, based on this, to develop an approach to the psychological assessment of these traits in virtual environments. Methods. To achieve the goal, focus groups (N=307) were conducted with qualitative analysis of user perceptions about the online environment, along with psychometric assessment using the Short Dark Triad (SD3) and the Light Triad Scale (LTS) questionnaires. Results. The study identified three groups of Internet users characterized by distinct behavioral patterns: (1) users with pronounced traits of the Light Triad, (2) users with pronounced traits of the Dark Triad, and (3) users without a clear predominance of these traits. Key dichotomies in attitudes towards online interaction (sociality–asociality, good–evil, life–death, external–internal) were identified, with their extreme poles corresponding to traits of the Light and Dark Triads. Conclusions. Users dominated by «dark» traits are prone to more antisocial and risky online behavior, whereas dominance of «light» traits is associated with prosocial positions. The obtained results can be used for developing diagnostic tools for assessing the expression of Dark and Light Triad traits in Internet users, and for predicting their communication patterns in virtual environments.
