Abstract. The article is devoted to the correlation of secularism and secularity trends in the dynamics of state-confessional relations in Georgia. The relevance of the research is determined by the unstable nature of the balance of the two trends in the context of the beginning of a shift in emphasis in the study of state-confessional relations. The methodology of the article includes a descriptive method, a scenario method, as well as the distinction between secularism and secularity as principles of state-confessional relations in the continuum approach of C. W. Durham. The structure of the article includes three substantive parts. In the first part, the author examines the formation and development of the trend of secularism, which reached its peak in 2018 due to the recognition of two privileges of the Georgian Orthodox Church as unconstitutional, but has been noticeably losing popularity since 2022. In the second part, the author describes the formation and development of the trend of secularity, which reaches its peak after the signing of the Constitutional Convention in 2002. As a result, in 2024 a political initiative is emerging to form a religious (orthodox) state in Georgia. In the third part, the author identifies and evaluates the likelihood of the implementation of four scenarios for overcoming the unstable balance of secularism and secularity trends in Georgia: sustainable coexistence of two trends; "victory of secularism"; "victory of secularity"; formation of a religious state. For each scenario, a key result is highlighted, ensuring its approval in society. The author considers the scenario of stable coexistence of secularism and secularity trends to be the least likely. The likelihood of the three remaining scenarios being implemented is determined by the unstable balance of influence between the traditional values of the Georgian people and secularism as one of the Western legal values. In the axiological and geopolitical context, the probability of a specific scenario being realized is difficult to predict in a situation of global turbulence, as it is determined by the balance of power of supporters of globalism and national sovereignty in the world, as well as Georgia's geopolitical choice between Russia and Western countries.
